Abstract

526,338. Controlling temperature of blast for blast furnaces. DAWSON, H. C., and BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A. March 21, 1939, No. 9010. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] [Also in Group II] The temperature of the blast supplied by hot blast stoves 3 to a furnace 6 is controlled by arranging valves 9, 11 in the cold air byepass pipe 4 and in the cold blast main 1 between the entrance to the byepass pipe 4 and the hot blast stoves respectively, the valves being preferably controlled by a pyrometer 5 arranged in the hot blast main 2. Alternatively two pyrometers may be used one in the hot blast main and the other in the cold blast main.' The valves are coupled so. that the valve 9 closes as the valve 11 opens.
