525,477. Valve closures. KOCKUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS AKTIEBOLAG. Feb. 21, 1939, No. 5823. Convention date, March 24, 1938. [Class 135] A valve member 7 seating on an edge 5 is guided by a second edge 6 (which may be intermittent or may be replaced by a plurality of pins), thus enabling both a hard valve member and a hard seat to be used without any exact axial guiding means which would be liable to seize. The valve member, controlled by a rod 8, is urged upon its seat by the point of a spring-loaded sleeve 11 sliding on a fixed pin 15. Fluid entering through the openings 14 is admitted to the underside of the valve member by the holes 9. Either or both of the edges 5 and 6 may be formed on the valve member instead of the seat and the. faces coacting therewith may be in two parallel planes. In a modification where the valve member and its mechanism are on the 11 down-stream " side of the seat, the sleeve 11 surrounds the spring, its outer surface is guided by the valve casing walls and a control wire from its centre passes through the spring retaining cap.
