525,034. Capsule closures. MAREK, A. J., and KORK-N-SEAL, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1939, No. 4643. [Class 125 (iii)] A cap for bottles or other containers has two portions, an outer metallic part a provided with a tab b and an inner part c of parchment, paper or the like; the inner part c is substantially coextensive with the outer part a but it does not extend beneath the tab. After the removal of the cap the inner part c may be used as are-closure. During manufacture the flat strip d, Fig. 6, from which the parts c of the caps are cut, is led between rollers e to tools on the line AA which cut away the portions i corresponding to the tab position. It then passes between the rollers f which also feed the metal strip g. The two strips pass together to tools on the line BB which stamp out the two parts of the cap. In a modification, the outer portions a with their tabs b are fed to a holder 2, Fig. 9, opposite a die 3 over which the paper 4 is fed. The hollow stamping member 5 is operated to stamp out the disc for the inner cap portion c which is then pushed by the punch 6 into the metal part a of the cap.
