[Also in Groups XVI, XVII and XXII] A method of manufacturing tabbed capsules for sealing containers from a strip or web of foil or the like, e.g. aluminium foil, comprises shearing tabs from the foil, folding back the tabs, each over part of an area corresponding to a cap blank subsequently to be removed, and passing the strip or web with preformed tabs between a circular punch and die tool set which shears the blank from the foil and forms a skirt or flange in the same operation leaving the tab folded back from the lower edge of the skirt and over the top of the cap. As shown, tabs T are punched out of a strip of foil S and folded back by known means. The strip S is fed between a die ring D and a punch P of known type, which stamp out circular blanks therefrom and form a skirt K on each capsule in the same operation so that the tab T lies flat against the outside of the skirt K and also against the top U of the capsule.
