Abstract

1,159,588. Rolling cones of paper or other material. BIG DRUM Inc. 1 Nov., 1966 [3 Aug., 1966], No. 48836/66. Heading B5D. A cone (Fig. 15) is rolled from paper or other material with an overlap at two straight edges O, I which, before rolling, are at right-angles. The blanks may be cut from strip which has first received applications A, B (Fig. 11) of two adhesives, one quick-setting and the other more permanent, and which has been scored or perforated at W to form a tear strip T (Fig. 15). Where the upper edge U of the cone is to be rolled over a projection P is formed near the upper edge to provide a wider seam in the rolled area. The blank is rolled on a conical mandrel 50 (Fig. 11) provided with apertures connected alternately to vacuum and to pressure, and co-operating with a further conical roller (not shown). As the blank is rolled on to the mandrel 50 a cutter 52 trims the upper edge. The point v of the cone is rounded by a reciprocating tool 55.
