Abstract

1436643 Cutting webs BURROUGHS CORP 3 April 1974 [2 May 1973] 44027/75 Divided out of 1436642 Heading B8R Cutting apparatus for severing a web 26 into separate sheets by producing a transverse cut on either side of a line of weakening perforations comprises upper and lower rigid members 80, 86, the member 80 having two spaced apart resilient members 84 secured thereto, and part of the rigid member extending between the members 84 in the form of a blade 82 slightly recessed with respect to the lower surface of the members 84. The lower member 86 is formed with a channel 88. In operation, the web is advanced until a line of perforations is centrally between the blade and channel, and the member 86 is raised and pressed against the members 84, so that the blade protrudes into the channel and severs the web.
