Abstract

1,026,100. Slitting webs. BELOIT EASTERN CORPORATION. March 19, 1965 [March 23, 1964], No. 11728/65. Heading B4B. In a slitter comprising a circular knife 10 co-operating with a roller 11 for trimming a strip from the edge of a travelling web W, the strip is guided down a shoot 12 which has jet openings supplied with compressed air through a manifold 25 so that the strip is supported by an air cushion. To assist in holding the web in position, a doctor blade 15 is provided for removing air from the surface of the roller 11. The shoot has a horizontal plate portion the front part of which doctors air from the lower surface of the web. The knife 10 is axially adjustable outwardly of the web.
