Abstract

1,194,690. Scoring press. MARDON, SON & HALL Ltd. 16 Dec., 1968 [23 Dec., 1967], No. 58586/67. Heading B4B. A press for providing a blank, e.g. of paperboard, with a tear-off portion comprises two opposable die members 10, 20, one supporting a layer of make-ready 21 and one or more first scoring members 25, 26, each having a base secured to the die member 20 and a flange projecting therefrom to form a scoring edge, and the other 10 supporting one or more second scoring members 11, 12 and an anvil 18, 19 for each first scoring members 25, 26. The scoring dies may form part of a full cutting and creasing press, and the scoring members may be arranged to form any required tear-strip configuration, e.g. to produce a rectangular aperture on tearing.
