Abstract
524,626. Radial-cylinder engines. GOTTHARD SACHSENBERG ZENTRAL-GES. Jan. 31, 1939, No. 3318. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1938. [Class 7 (ii)] In a radial-cylinder engine having an annular valve 4 controlling the inlet and exhaust to the cylinders a cylindrical projection 3 on the cylinder forms the combustion chamber and is completely surrounded by a sealing member 7 which is pressed against the annular valve either by gas pressure or centrifugal force. The inwardly projecting flange 9 may have grooves in its sealing face 10 the grooves decreasing in size from the combustion space outwardly, so as to give a throttling effect to escaping gases. The flange on the sealing member may be dispensed with and the cylinder projection be extended nearly to the face of the annular valve. Rings such as 131 Fig. 6, may be located between the sealing member and the cylinder projection.
