Abstract

524,339. Attaching fittings to glassware. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Jan. 27, 1939, No. 2891. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1938. [Class 56] A method of sealing together glass and ceramic material consists in forming the ceramic material with thin-walled projections arranging the glass in contact with the projec tions, and then fusing the glass to the projec tions. The method may be used in making an electron-discharge device. The ceramic body 1 is formed with two-thinwalled annular edge portions or projections 3, 4 between which the glass body 2 is inserted, the part 3 being formed with radial slots 5 if desired. The two bodies are then fused together by a sharp flame from a blowpipe 6.
