Abstract
481,409. Uniting metal to ceramic material by heat. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Aug. 12, 1937, No. 22218. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1936. [Class 36] In the manufacture of electric discharge vessels which comprise interconnected metal parts and ceramic parts a ceramic part 2 is inserted within a metal part 4 which may form the upper portion of an anode 1, and a sealing material such as glass 5 is applied to the joint between the two, one part then being shifted inwardly relatively to the other while the glass is still sufficiently soft for it to be caused to enter the space between the walls of the parts, as shown in the example. The part 2 may be in the form of a ceramic sleeve with a ceramic cover 3 which is connected thereto by sealing material 6 and carries an electrode system 7.
