[Class 122 (iii).] Jointing means between parts A, B of high vacuum vessels comprises one or more thin sheets C of mica or soft iron and a liquid, e.g. mercury, seal F on the atmospheric side of the joint C. An outer joint E of rubber or asbestos may also be used. Where it is necessary to insulate the part A from the part B a porcelain ring may be inserted between the two and a joint made as above on each side thereof.
