[Class 39 (i).] An insulating bushing 2 for the electrode 1 of a mercury-vapour rectifier is formed with flanges 7, the surfaces of which parallel to the axis of the electrode are ground to fit the corresponding portions of the electrode 1 and the casing 3 so as to prevent portions of the packing rings 6 from escaping between the insulator and the other member and spoiling the joint.
