Abstract
204,332. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Sept. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. Aspirating-apparatus, ejector. - In connection with electric railway systems wherein mercuryvapour rectifiers are used for the supply of current, difficulties arise as to the provision of insulated mountings and electric mercury-heaters for the mercury-vapour gas or air ejector employed for maintaining the vacuum in the rectifier vessel, especially where high voltages are in question. To obviate these, the heating resistance is connected to a small auxiliary transformer that obviates the danger of high-voltage current passing over to the existing low-voltage network that arises where the heater is included in that network. The advantage is also gained that the pump can continue working independently of the rectifier. Several such heating coils may be supplied from a common auxiliary transformer.
