Commutator switching-arrangements; vapour and vacuum or low-pressure apparatus, arrangements of; transformers. - In arrangements for rectifying high-voltage currents by means of mechanical rectifiers, cathode tubes or the like, excess voltages, particularly those due to voltage resonance, are eliminated by varying the inductive resistance of the transformer feeding the rectifier. For this purpose, the transformer core is provided with one or more adjustable air gaps, four gaps d<1> .. d<4> being shown.
