Abstract
375,027. Protective cut-out arrangements. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. May 6, 1931, No. 13363. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] A current-carrying line having a metal vapour valve 2 in series therewith is interrupted in the event of excess current by applying to the valve a reverse voltage derived from a condenser 1, the discharge path of which is completed by breakdown of a spark gap 4 under voltage applied by a current transformer 3 in the line, provision being made for automatically short-circuiting the transformer on either the primary or secondary side when the condenser discharge path is completed. Such provision may comprise an auxiliary electrode 5 swept over by the discharge at the electrodes 4 with the aid, if necessary, of magnetic " blowing."
