Abstract

524,059. Ear protectors ; respiratory appliances. GLOVER, C. W. Jan. 20, 1939. No. 2072. [Class 81 (ii)] A sound-proof head-piece is shaped to fit closely to the face and enclose at least the ears, nose and mouth. It comprises inner and outer walls with an intermediate sound-absorbing layer. Air passages 25, 26 are provided for the supply and exhaust of air to and from the interior ; they are fitted with non-return valves. A telephone transmitter and receivers 19 may also be fitted in the device. An alternative embodiment comprises a dome-shaped device completely enclosing the head and having a resilient sealing ring resting upon the shoulders.
