Abstract
1,009,818. Headsets. PACIFIC PLANTRONICS Inc. Aug. 25, 1964, No. 34790/64. Heading H4J. A headset has a microphone and a receiver mounted in a fitting 10 which clips on to the eyeglass frame 11 worn, e.g. by an aviator, the microphone being connected to the region of the wearer's mouth by a tube 27 and the receiver to the wearer's ear by the tube 29. The microphone-receiver fitting is shown in section in Fig. 5 in which the microphone 19 is connected to the acoustic tube 26 by a rotatable moulding 24 which clips via a resilient insert on to the projection 23 on the microphone. The receiver 20 is similarly connected to the tube 29. The fitting is attached to the eyeglass frame by a wire clip 15-16 which engages a button 17 cemented to the body of the fitting 10. The microphone tube may just terminate in an open end close to the wearer's mouth, Fig. 2 (not shown), or, where an oxygen mask is worn, a fitting as shown in Fig. 3 is fitted to the mask so that the diaphragm 38 provides a gas-tight seal for the tube to mask connection while acoustic vibrations are transmitted from the interior of the mask to the tube 26.
