139,043. Hooghiemstra, J. S., and Bureau voor Uitvinders. March 26 1919. Mouthpieces and earpieces; sets.-In a pocket telephone set for deaf persons, the transmitter and receiver are mounted on the battery casing, and the sound chamber of the receiver is connected to the ear by a flexible tube. The soundreceiver of the transmitter may be in the form of a grating placed at the top of or surrounding the microphone casing. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the transmitter 8 or transmitters 8, 9 and the receiver 10 are mounted upon the battery casing 1 by means of a U-shaped bracket 4, and the sound chamber of the receiver is connected to the ear by a flexible tube 5. In the modification shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the front of the microphone 11 is flush with the battery casing 1, and the sound-receiver 12 is in the form of a grating and is placed at the top of the microphone casing. The set is held in the pocket by a spring clip 15, and a switch 17 is provided to control the telephone circuits. A rheostat may be provided to regulate the strength of the current.
