[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group VI] To avoid, in a face-mask with a microphone attachment, interference with the microphone response due to reflections from the mask, the microphone 13 is provided with a frustoconical mouthpiece 14 of soft rubber which is designed in conjunction with the acoustic network of the microphone in the manner described in Specification 513,529 so as to give optimum sound transmission properties over the frequency band employed. The mouthpiece may have a cutaway to accommodate the nose, may be of skew-conical form when not in alignment with the wearer's mouth, and may be moulded integrally with the mask or the front cap of the microphone.
