Abstract

572,777. Respirators. FOUNTAIN, Ltd., G. R. and HOULGATE, H. J. March 18, 1943, No. 4403. [Class 81 (ii)] To prevent distortion beyond its elastic limit of the diaphragm 2 of an acoustic device applied to a respirator, perforated protecting members 10, 11 are arranged in close proximity to the diaphragm 2. The diaphragm and the members 10, 11 are mounted in a capsule comprising a perforated outer wall 7 and an inner wall 5 with a conduit 12 providing a passage for sound transmission and means for mounting the device in an aperture of the respirator face-piece. The aperture 13 is arranged in the side of the face piece of the respirator so that When the wearer holds a telephone handset in normal position for conversation, the diaphragm lies opposite the telephone mouthpiece.
