Abstract
836,959. Microphones. GORIKE, R. March 28, 1958 [April 3, 1957; March 18, 1958], No. 10128/58. Class 40 (4). A directional condenser microphone comprises a diaphragm 1, Fig. 3, or 10, Fig. 6, of which both faces are exposed to incident sound waves, a microphone body behind the diaphragm, and a hollow structure 4, Fig. 3, or 18, Fig. 6, which surrounds this body and defines with the periphery of the body a narrow annular passage 7, Fig. 3, or 20, Fig. 6, the length of which is at least equal to the diameter of the diaphragm and which exposes the rear face of the diaphragm to the incident sound waves. An air chamber 9, Fig. 3, or 25, Fig. 6, communicates with the diaphragm through a perforated electrode 3, Tig. 3, or 30, Fig. 6. A further air passage 27, 34, 35, Fig. 6, to the back of the diaphragm, forming an acoustic frictional resistance, may be provided, and there may be apertures in the outer member 18, Fig. 9 (not shown).
