Abstract

523,309. Fusible cut-outs. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and METCALF, A. W. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37873. [Class 38 (i)] An element for a fuse consisting of a pair of U-shaped wires or groups of wires joined by a piece of low melting-point metal is made by a continuous process by placing the groups of wires 1 in a parallel position, attaching at intervals the low-melting point pieces 2 and then cutting the wires 1 at points between the pieces 2 and bending the wires to U-shape. If end-pieces 4 are to be provided, they are attached in pairs to the wires 1 before cutting the wires. The attachment may be performed by heating the wires by a current or otherwise so that the pieces 2 and the end-pieces 4 or a fusible coating thereon is melted on to the wires 1.
