[Class 140] [Also in Group XXIII] Laminated material is made by impregnating sheets made from chemical wood pulp fibre from 9 to 30 mils thick, e.g., kraft liner board, with liquid synthetic resin, e.g., by immersion, drying, interposing the sheets between wood plies and heating and pressing the assembly, e.g., at temperatures between 250‹F. and 300‹F. under a pressure of ¢ ton per square inch. The wood plies 'may also be lightly brushed or sprayed with synthetic resin. Exterior kraft liner plies may be provided and.these may be decorated, highly polished or rendered weather - resistant. Preferably equal numbers of wood and kraft liner plies are used and their thicknesses chosen so that all the plies in the finished material are of equal thickness. Synthetic resins specified are phenol- and cresol-formaldehyde and alkyd resins.
