Abstract

1,136,650. Post formable laminates. PLASTICS MFG. CO. 28 June, 1966 [21 July, 1965; 21 March, 1966], No. 28828/66. Heading B5N. A post formable laminate comprises a post formable substrate, and a surface lamination of cellulosic paper impregnated with an unmodified reaction product of formaldehyde and melamine in a mole ratio from 1.1:1 to 1.8:1. In one embodiment the substrate comprises kraft paper sheets, one of which may be creped, impregnated with phenol formaldehyde resin, and one or two top sheets impregnated with the melamine-formaldehyde reaction product specified. The top sheets may comprise a pigmented print sheet and a transparent overlay sheet, and may be of α-cellulose paper, regenerated cellulose paper, or paper composed of a mixture of α-cellulose and rayon fibres. The laminate is produced by curing the assembled layers thereof under heat and pressure, and cooling whilst maintaining the pressure.
