Abstract
522,341. Cooling cylinders. PERMOLD CO. Jan. 9, 1939, No. 675. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1938. [Class 7(ii)] The inner wall of a water-cooled cylinder head is strengthened by connections 40 to the outer wall 10 which is stiffened by ribs 41, 42, the major portions 41 of which are outside the cylinder head. The connections 40 are located over the cylinder bores, but further connections 46 are arranged between the central bores. The ribs extend between the stud bosses 35 which also connect the walls. The cooling water passes from the cylinder jackets through holes in the inner wall of the head and leaves by a connection 14. The cylinder head of a six-cylinder engine is also described in which the ribs and connections are multiplied. The head may be made of copper or aluminium, or their alloys.
