Abstract
465,569. Cylinders. FEDERAL-MOGUL CORPORATION. Oct. 23, 1936, No. 28878. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1935. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-part cylinder head, in which an outer part 3 is secured to an inner part 2, wells 12 are formed in the part 3 so that the part 2 may be independently secured to the cylinder block, as by studs 14. A further row of studs 8 extends along one side and the two ends of the head. The outer part 3 is secured by studs 16 which are arranged round the edges, and round each of the wells. Gaskets are provided between the two parts 2, 3, and under the part 2, which is preferably cast from copper or a copper alloy, the part 3 being formed of thinner copper or aluminium. Each part of the head may be subdivided.
