Abstract
520,522. Conserve cans etc.; stoppers. SCHMIDT, C. W. R. Nov. 7, 1938, No. 32292. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1937. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii)] The end of a can for condensed milk &c. is formed with a single opening or with a pair of openings c, d, Fig. 1, which are closed by elastically formed press-studs f which, in the case of two openings, may be mounted on a rigid strip e which may then be prized up when it is desired to open the can. The studs are initially sealed in the openings by solder g but may be replaced after breaking the seal to afford a temporary re-closure. Specifications 202,240, [CLass 66], and 352,436, are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect 91 describes also studs mounted on a corrugated metal strip provided with a pull-ring, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), formed with lever ends adapted to bear on the can end when the the ring is raised, a stud-carrying strip, Fig. 7, (Cancelled)', attached to the end by an integral hinge, a strip, Fig. 8 (Cancelled) provided-with a pivoted wire loop adapted when turned outwardly to fulcrum on the rim of the can, and a pair of studs, Fig. 10 (Cancelled), connected together by a bent wire.' This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
