Abstract

1,224,998. Container closures. ALUMINUM CO. OF AMERICA. 8 Nov., 1968 [14 Nov., 1967], No. 53148/68. Heading B8T. A closure assembly comprising a fitment 10 having a tear strip 24, and a sealing liner 50 therewithin is characterized in that the fulcrum for a pull tab 26 is located outside the strip so that, on opening, the strip is pulled upwards thereby avoiding damage to the liner 50. The tear strip configuration, Fig. 2 (not shown), is such that a bridge piece is left between the strip and one of the two fitment halves on completing the tear, so that the strip remains on one of the two halves and aids in pulling them apart to free them from the liner 50. The liner 50, which is used as a reclosure, may be of rubber, paper, cardboard or plastics; the fitment 10 is of metal, e.g. aluminium.
