Abstract

520,073. Valve amplifying circuits. LAWS, C. A., and ROBIN. H. K. July 1, 1938, No. 19524. [Class 40 (v)] The output of a thermionic amplifier is controlled by adjusting a remote variable impedance to vary the amount of negative feedback, the adjustment may control simultaneously two negative feedback paths. As shown the control comprises resistance R5 which is arranged in the cathode path of valve V2 and in a potentiometer C6, R10, R5 across the output of valve V3. so that adjustment of R5 controls two feedback paths and a range of gain of 40 dB is provided. The feedback path may be given a variable frequency transmission characteristic by incorporating appropriate impedances such as L1. The resistance R5 is arranged at a distance from the amplifier. Specifications 472,256 and 505,492 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 495,620.
