[Class 38 (ii)] In a frequency changing arrangement supplying a load subject to rapid fluctuation from a polyphase supply, to avoid uneven phase loading of the supply a rectifier followed by a separate inverter provided with means for effecting forced commutation is employed. In the form shown in the Figure, a polyphase rectifier 1 supplies a single-phase inverter 2, 4, the discharge device 2 being provided with auxiliary anodes supplied from condensers 25 inductively coupled to effect communtation. To enable a load having a low power factor to be supplied, a rectifier 3, 5 connected reversely in parallel with the inverter is provided. A modification is described in which " Graetz connected discharge device are employed. Specification 512,023 is referred to.
