To prevent the commutating capacitors Cl, C2 (Fig. 1) discharging into the load circuit 3, 4, rectifiers D1, D2, D3, D4 are connected between the connection points of the load and the connection points of these capacitors. Diodes D5, D6, D7, D8 may be connected as shown to enable the reverse voltage produced, at commutation, in an inductive load to feed back to the D.C. source 1, 2. A three-phase Graetz bridge inverter having two controlled rectifiers per phase is described (Fig. 2, not shown)
