Abstract
1393311 Commutating inverters COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRONIQUE INDUSTRIELLE LEPAUTE 20 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53468/72 Heading H2F In an inverter comprising a pair of main thyristors 1, 2 series-connected across D.C. supply terminals 3, 4, commutating circuits each comprise the series arrangement of a commutating thyristor 11 and diode 14 across each main thyristor 1 and a series LC circuit 12, 13 connected across the commutating thyristor 11, at least two of such circuits being provided for each main thyristor 1, 2. The first of such commutating circuits, e.g. 11 ... 14 is arranged to provide a reverse current through thyristor 1 of a predetermined value whilst the second circuit, e.g. 16 ... 19 is arranged to provide additional reverse current to turn off the main thyristor 1, 2 when the load current is greater. Capacitors 13, 18 are initially charged from the D.C. terminals 3, 4 via resistors 41, 42 and diode 43.
