Abstract

519,532. Controlling aircraft. REID & SIGRIST, Ltd., and BOWER, C. Sept. 13, 1938, No. 26731. [Class 4] Control surfaces such as landing flaps and ailerons are mounted on tubular members by which they are operated and one of which passes through the other. As shown, the tubular members 16, 20 on which the landing flap and aileron are mounted, project into the fuselage and are provided with crank arms 18, 19 which are operated by screw and nut mechanism 33, 35 and by a link 25 both actuated from a distance. The members 16, 20 are carried by spaced bearings on the wing. The setting of the arm 18 is shown on an indicator 36.
