519,274. Gas-purifying materials. COURTAULDS, Ltd., HEYWOOD, A. D., THOMAS, R. S., and SHARPLES, E. H. Oct. 12, 1938, No. 29553. [Class 55 (ii)] In the purification from hydrogen sulphide of the waste gases obtained during the production of threads from viscose by washing with an aqueous liquid containing in suspension an oxide or hydroxide of iron with an oxide or hydroxide of manganese, sufficient lime is added to the liquor to give a pH value of between 9.0 and 11.5. A suitable liquor contains about 3.0 per cent. of ferric hydroxide and 0.2 per cent. of manganese hydroxide.
