Abstract
Fermentations by bacteria of the group Clostridium propyl butylicum are effected in the presence of an insoluble basic neutralizing-agent not being less finely subdivided or having a lower available surface than 200 mesh limestone or calcite. Barium or iron, but preferably calcium carbonate is used. Tests for fineness, involving settling-rate and particle size measurement are described.
