[Class 29] Absorption systems.-Alkaline. earth metal halides used as absorbents in reversing systems are treated before charging into the generatorabsorber vessels by adding water to the salts or allowing them to absorb water from the air by exposure and then heating until hydrogen halides and oxides or basic halides are formed. Exposure of the charge to water after this treatment does not result in the presence of free water in the final charge. The heating treatment may be followed by further treatment, such as mixture with other materials, before the charge is introduced into the generator-absorber.
