[Class 76] [Also in Group IV, II, III and XII] A tanning agent practically free from sulphur is made by heating sulphite cellulose liquors with lime under 15 atmospheres pressure so as to reach pH 9 and removing the precipitate. The solution also contains acetate and formate. Specification 496,898 is referred to.
