Abstract

530,556. Separating fibres from suspensions. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBERSCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER. June 27, 1939, No. 18714. Convention date, June 28, 1938. [Class 96] [Also in Group IV] Fibrous materials are separated from suspensions, e.g. the waste liquors from paper or cardboard manufacture, by the flotation process using a flocculating agent, e.g. alum, in the presence of a substance evolving oxygen, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, ozone, sodium peroxide, sodium perborate, and persulphuric acid and its salts. Wetting agents, e.g. Turkey red oil, and frothing agents may also be present. The medium preferably has a pH greater than 7, and is under reduced pressure.
