Abstract
406,495. Purifying processes. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(Gastechnik Ges. ; 11, Wilmsstrasse, Oberhausen, Rhineland, Germany.) March 27, 1933, No. 9209. [Class 55 (ii).] Gases are purified from sulphuretted hydrogen by passage through a high tower packed with porous moulded bodies consisting mainly of ferric oxide. Towers of increasing crosssection with height may be used and water or solutions of ammonia or soda trickled down them to activate the purification bodies. The bodies are prepared by briquetting ferric oxide with a binder such as sulphite liquor, water glass &c. together with organic matter or readily decomposable salts which on heating increase the porosity of the bodies.
