Abstract

519,180. Filtering air. BRAND, A. N. Sept. 15, 1938, No 26891. [Class 8 (ii)] Air is delivered to hoppers f of a pair of filter chambers b, c containing dust bags e, and the cleaned air from both chambers normally flows past a valve s to a common outlet chamber d having an outlet k to a fan and to an air delivery duct; from this duct part of the air may be by-passed through a valve to a return duct o leading to a bridge passage communicating with the filter chambers. The duct contains the valve s rotated by the air pressure so that it alternately connects the duct with each chamber shutting it off simultaneously from the chamber d, while the other chamber has free outlet to the chamber d, and is shut off from the duct o. The air supply from the duct collapses the bags in the chamber it supplies. The valve s may be held against the side of the duct by an adjustable degree of friction.
