Abstract

526,346. Drying-apparatus with conveying means. SPOONER, W. W. March 14, 1939, No. 8114. [Class 34 (ii)] For drying and conditioning granular and fibrous material, an openwork conveyer 2 is arranged between pressure and suction chambers 3, 4 fitted with tapering nozzles 9, 10 which have their smallest dimension where they intersect and open flush with the chamber wall facing the conveyer. The chambers are connected by an air conduit 13 including a fan 11 and a heater 12 ; and the inlet 14 to the fan contains a filter 15. In a modification, the conveyer traverses two pairs of chambers. The amount of fluid discharged by the pressure nozzles may exceed that withdrawn by the suction nozzles, and a proportion of the fluid is then continuously discharged from the circuit.
