633,527. Respiratory appliances. BEER, F. Nov. 15, 1947, No. 30388. [Class 81(ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] Means for supplying fresh air to a respirator or mask comprises a fan and a compressed-air motor for driving the fan contained in non-communicating chambers, the motor chamber being adapted for connection to a compressed-air supply line and the fan chamber being adapted for connection to the respirator and to a fresh air line leading from a remote point, so that fresh air alone drawn from the said remote point is delivered to the respirator. As shown in Fig. 2, a fan casing 5 has an inlet union 6 and an outlet union 7 for pipes connecting the fan casing to a source of fresh air and to a respirator or mask. A motor casing 8 is clamped to the fan casing and contains a turbine wheel 9 to which is coupled a fan. 13 within the fan casing, the motor casing being surmounted by. a cap 16 having unions 18, 19, for connection to a compressed-air line, compressed air being fed to the turbine wheel via passage 21 and slots 27 in a cover plate 28. An adjustable needle valve (not shown) is provided for regulating the supply to the turbine wheel.
