Abstract

594,652. Venturi apparatus. CHANDLER-EVANS CORPORATION. July 20, 1944, No. 13912. Convention date, June 10, 1943. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] In apparatus for measuring the mass of a fluid passing through a conduit 11 having a Venturi 14, the inlet 12 is connected by impact tubes 17, vent ring 18, and conduits 20 and 21 to a valve chamber 22, past a valve 23 and a restriction 25 to a chamber 27 and the Venturi. The pressure drop from the inlet to the Venturi is divided into two steps, the proportions of which are dependent upon the setting of the valve 23, which is actuated by bellows 30, the position of which is dependent upon the pressure and temperature at the Venturi. The pressure differential across the valve 23 operates a-metering unit 41, which controls the exact quantity of a second fluid to be passed from a fuel-regulating unit 32 through a pressure-regulating unit 36 to the discharge nozzle 16. The application of the invention to carburettors of internal-combustion engines is described in detail in the Specification.
