Abstract

918,789. Regulating. CITROEN S. A., ANDRE. April 13, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 13152/60. Class 7(6) [Also in Group XXIX] Fuel from a pump is supplied to the distributer of an engine via valve apparatus Fig. 1, comprising an inlet port 3, a filter 4, a passage 5, a chamber 2, a passage 5, a chamber 2, a passage 6, an orifice 8, a chamber 7 and an outlet port 9 in a body 1. The amount of fuel is determined by a metering valve 11, 12, Figs. 2 and 4 which controls the by-pass leakage of fuel from the chamber 2 to a return line. The rotary cylindrical member 12 has a blind hole 13 from which radial ports 14 extend to co-operate with radial ports 15 in the sleeve member 11, the ports 15 being interconnected by annular duct 16. The member 12 is also reciprocable within the sleeve 11 and is loaded by a spring 29 in a direction to bring the ports 14 and 15 out of alignment but is normally retained, i.e. when the engine is operating, against an adjustable stop 32 by the pressure within the chamber 2. This reciprocation of the valve member 12 on starting and stopping of the engine produces a scraping action which prevents sticking. One end of the member 12 carries an arm 21 which is connected by a rod 22 to a piston 23 subjected on opposite sides to the pressure upstream and downstream of the orifice 8. The other end of the member 12 is connected to a lever 26 connected to a control member responsive to the vacuum produced by the flow of air to the engine.
