Abstract
800,511. Gas turbine plant. NAPIER & SON, Ltd., D. Nov. 18, 1955 [Dec. 14, 1954], No. 36235/54. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] Associated with the delivery passage 6 of the fuel pump 1 is a subsidiary metering device comprising a piston 93 embodying a metering orifice 94, the pressure drop across which is maintained constant by a piston valve 95 acted upon by the rod 96 of the piston 93 and a spring 97, the valve controlling the fuel inlet to the underside of the piston 93; the pressure drop across the orifice can be varied by an adjustable spring 98. The fuel from the orifice 94 flows to both the servo piston 49 connected to the sleeve 11 of the main metering orifice 13 through which fuel is supplied to the fuel nozzles, and to the servo piston 83 which controls the incident angle of the compressor inlet guide vanes, not shown. If neither of these servo devices is in operation the fuel will flow to a relief passage 101 via a relief valve 100 and the arrangement is such that the volumetric rate of flow through the main orifice 13 is unaffected when either of these servo devices is in operation. Temperature responsive devices 115, 116 subject to the temperature in the combustion chambers or at points in the path of the combustion products act through levers 117, 118 on relief valves 120, 121 controlling ports in the passages 9 and 27 to reduce the delivery of the pump 1 above a given temperature. The emergency control lever 107 operates a turbine brake 112 as well as the dump valve 114 and governor override. The subject-matter of this Specification is otherwise substantially the same as that described in Specification 790,052.
