Abstract

518,192. Snap - action switches. KASTL, J., (trading as CASTELCO FABRIK FUR ELEKTRISCHE APPARATE UND METALLWAREN). Aug. 18, 1938, No. 24362. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1937. [Class 38 (v)] A push and pull switch is characterized by a substantially U-shaped contact spring rotatably mounted on the actuating rod or stem, the resilient shanks of the spring engaging guiding means, which hold the contact spring against rotation, and sliding at their free ends on oblique surfaces formed on the fixed contact members and on the casing adjacent said contact members respectively, said members inclining oppositely from the intermediate point whereby the tension of the resilient shanks automatically moves the contact spring and stem to, and holds them in, an end position. In the Figures rotatable rod 1 moving in sleeve 4 carries contact spring 2 coacting with fixed contacts 12. The insulated casing is made in two parts 10, 11 so as to closely fit the contact screws 13 on assembly, being held together by the conical nut 15 threaded on the sleeve 4 or by rivet 14, and providing guides d to prevent rotation of the spring. Nuts 6, 7 secure it to a baseboard. The surfaces c of the casing form a " neck " so that when the spring shanks have passed it they spring apart.
