Abstract
517,428. Television. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and BENTLEY, L. C. July 27, 1938, No. 22288. [Class 40 (iii)] A viewing screen 1 is hinged at its upper end to the front and of a hinged lid 2 of a receiver cabinet and at its lower end to levers 3 controlled by springs 4, 5. In the open position shown, the screen and levers are not fully extended and the parts are kept up by the spring 4 only, so that to close the lid only downward pressure on it is required. During the closing operation, the second spring 5 comes into operation to assist the first spring 4. When the lid is fully closed, the springs are just insufficient to lift the lid. A mirror in the lid reflects the image on to the screen.
