Abstract
516,984. Yarns; treating yarns. DINGLEY, R. M. and DICKIE, W. A. July 15, 1938, No. 21055. [Class 120 (iii)] [Also in Group IV] A crape yarn is made by twisting at least two ends of yarn in the same direction at least one end being twisted in the presence of steam or other hot aqueous medium and at least another end being twisted in the absence of such medium, the ends being doubled together with the same direction of twist in the presence of steam or other hot aqueous medium ; the ends may contain cellulose acetate or other derivative of cellulose. The ends may be simultaneously twisted in a machine arranged to supply steam or other hot aqueous medium to one or some of the ends at parts actually receiving twist, the twisted ends being then collected by parallel winding on a single bobbin which is subsequently employed as the supply bobbin for the second operation of doubling the ends in the presence of steam or other hot aqueous medium; when the yarn consists of two ends, alternate spindles of the first twisting machine may be arranged for the supply of the medium.
