[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In a multicylinder overhead-valve engine a channel 11 is formed between adjacent cylinders to accommodate a passage 17 conveying exhaust from the exhaust manifold 15 to form a hot spot 18 on the induction manifold. The passage 17, which is kept out of contact with the channel 11, has widened ends, and is preferably mounted on the cylinder head prior to assembly on the cylinder block.
